Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced its success in treating (100) complex and advanced cancer cases using the latest specialized treatment technologies available in Iraq, reflecting the level of advanced medical care provided by the hospital to oncology patients.
In a statement obtained by the official website, the hospital said that "Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, successfully treated (100) complex and advanced cancer cases using the latest specialized treatment technologies available in Iraq, in an achievement that reflects the specialized medical services provided to cancer patients."
The statement explained that "within just one year, the hospital succeeded in saving the lives of dozens of women and treating them for complex cancerous tumors using the latest Brachytherapy techniques, achieving high success rates in preserving healthy tissue and patients' fertility."
It added that "the procedure is carried out according to a carefully designed treatment plan developed by the specialized medical team, ensuring the direct and targeted treatment of cancer cells while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy cells and tissues, thereby improving treatment effectiveness and reducing potential side effects."
The hospital further stated that "this treatment is primarily used for gynecological cancers, such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. By minimizing damage to surrounding cells, it significantly increases the chances of preserving women's fertility and future reproductive ability." It emphasized that "the medical team successfully protected the surrounding tissues in every referred case, making the cancer treatment journey less burdensome and less physically impactful for women."
