Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to Serve Over 100,000 Meals Daily

The Guest House Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the completion of its service and food distribution plan for the holy month of Muharram, which includes providing more than (100) thousand meals daily during peak days as part of its preparations to receive visitors arriving in Holy Karbala to commemorate Ashura.

Speaking to the official website, the deputy head of the Guest House Department, Mohammed Ibrahim Hassan, said that "the Guest House Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed its service and food distribution plan for the holy month of Muharram, which includes providing more than (100) thousand meals daily during peak days, in addition to distributing thousands of extra meals on the anniversary of the burial of the pure bodies, as part of its preparations to receive visitors arriving in Holy Karbala to commemorate Ashura."

He explained that "the department has increased its production and service capacity in line with the millions of visitors expected, with all staff operating under a phased plan to ensure the smooth delivery of food services across the department's various locations."

He added that "the Imam Hussein Guest House continues to provide its services throughout the year. However, the holy month of Muharram witnesses a large-scale mobilization of human and service resources, requiring an increase in production capacity to meet the needs of visitors and mourning delegations."

He continued that "the plan includes the Indoor Guest Hall, which will begin distributing (5) thousand meals per day during the first days of Muharram, increasing to more than (11) thousand meals daily during peak days. Meanwhile, the Al-Sidra Street (Cooperative) Guest House will serve three main meals daily with a production capacity of (84) thousand meals per day, distributed as (28) thousand breakfast meals, (28) thousand lunch meals, and (28) thousand dinner meals, from the seventh to the tenth of Muharram, in addition to the thirteenth day."

He noted that "the service plan also includes operating the department's tea station (Chaykhana) on Al-Shuhada Street to provide tea and drinking water to visitors and Husayni mourning processions, in addition to carrying out extensive water distribution campaigns at Bab Al-Qibla, particularly during the peak of the tenth of Muharram ceremonies."
