Al-Sayyida Khadija Al-Kubra Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the successful completion of four complex surgical procedures on a Pakistani visitor who had arrived in the holy city of Karbala.
Speaking to the official website, general surgery specialist Dr. Ali Al-Miyali said that “Al-Sayyida Khadija Al-Kubra Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, successfully performed (4) complex surgical procedures on a Pakistani visitor who had come to the holy city of Karbala.”
He explained that “the patient was suffering from gallstones that caused acute pancreatitis, in addition to brittle diabetes.”
He added that “the patient underwent conservative treatment and medical follow-up for two months before a decision was made to proceed with comprehensive surgical intervention, which included gallbladder removal, connecting the stomach to the pancreatic pseudocyst, as well as the removal of ovarian tumors.”
In a related statement, anesthesiology specialist Dr. Hala Tahseen said that “the patient was considered a high-risk case, as her HbA1c level reached (9.2%), while her blood glucose level was (475) mg/dL.”
She added that “the medical staff conducted all necessary examinations and successfully stabilized blood sugar levels, kidney function, and the functions of the body's other organs prior to surgery, which contributed to the success of the procedures.”
