Second Relief Convoy to Iran Funded Jointly by the Shrine and Donors

The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has confirmed that the second relief convoy to Iran is funded through joint support between the shrine and donors, following the first convoy, which was fully financed by the shrine. This initiative reflects a clear response to the call of the Supreme Religious Authority and highlights the broad public engagement with humanitarian efforts.

Member of the Relief Committee at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, engineer Abbas Abdul Ali, stated in an interview with the official website that “the first convoy was entirely funded by the shrine, while the current convoy comes with joint support and widespread public donations.”

He explained that “the second convoy comes as a continuation of the first and embodies the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority, under the supervision of its representative Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei and the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. This initiative affirms that faith is not limited to words, but is demonstrated through action and solidarity.”

He added that the convoy includes essential supplies, comprising (23) ambulances, in addition to specialized medical equipment, (24) trucks and heavy machinery, civil defense equipment, as well as various service and humanitarian materials to meet urgent needs.

It is worth noting that yesterday, Monday, 13 April 2026, the convoy was officially handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent in the capital, Tehran.
