The Expansion Projects Department has announced the details and specifications of the Courtyard of the Prophet Muhammad (P) project, which represents the third phase of the major expansion of the Imam Hussein Courtyard.
Head of the department, Engineer Hussein Reda Mahdi, said in a statement to the official website that “the built-up area of the Courtyard of the Prophet Muhammad project amounts to 330,000 m², while the total land area reaches 100,000 m², making it one of the large-scale urban projects that will contribute to accommodating the increasing numbers of visitors.”
He explained that “the Courtyard of the Prophet Muhammad (P) project represents the third phase of the major expansion of the Imam Hussein Courtyard,” noting that “the courtyard constitutes the largest expansion ever witnessed by the Imam Hussein Courtyard.”
He added that “the project will be located northwest of the Imam Hussein Courtyard, within an integrated engineering vision aimed at developing infrastructure and expanding the areas allocated to serve visitors.”
The expansion of the Imam Hussein Courtyard is considered one of the major urban projects undertaken by the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, with the objective of accommodating the growing number of visitors and providing an appropriate environment for pilgrimage as well as religious and social services.
