Imam Hussain Holy Shrine opens doors of third modern city to use for quarantine for Iraqi arrivals

Following the directive of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority and Chief Cleric of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalaey, Imam al-Hassan Modern City for Pilgrims on Karbala-Najaf Road announced receiving the first batch of Iraqis returning from outside the country, for the purpose of hosting them until the end of the quarantine period to make sure they are free of COVID-19.

City Director Hisham al-Ameedy said, "Imam al-Hassan Modern City for Pilgrims will receive the first batch of Iraqis returning from outside the country, where they will be hosted until the end of the quarantine period to make sure they are all free of COVID-19,” indicating that this initiative came following the directive of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, after a request by the Council of Ministers and the Karbala local government.

The city will receive 160 Iraqis arriving from Iran.

“The city’s administration will provide the arrivals with three daily meals, internet service, health care and other services, in coordination with the Karbala Health Department,” added al-Ameedy.

It is noteworthy that Imam Hussain Holy Shrine had placed the cities of Sayyed al-Awsiya, Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan, at the disposal of the Ministry of Health, and established al-Shifaa Urgent Care Center in order to support the health professionals in Karbala.
