Archeological project to discover ElElqemey River stream to be launched by Imam Hussain Shrine and British university

The museum of the Imam Hussain Shrine has announced launching a project to discover and trace ElElqemey River, in cooperation with a British university.

Museum curator Dr. Ala’ Dheya’ EdDeen said, “Tracing ElElqemey River project will be carried out according to a research study prepared by Durham University.”

He added that the project will be carried out for the first time and by one of the world’s oldest universities, and with the supervision of Prof. Michelle Du Giorgi, who came to Karbala to research some archaeological places in order to discover the stream of the river.

Dheya’ EdDeen said the river is expected to be 600 kilometers long, which reaches the south of Iraq.
