In cooperation with Sanad For Peace Organization, the delegation of the Imam Hussain Shrine has held a workshop in the city of Mosul to support and discuss a cooperation pact in terms of confronting social challenges and committing to the principles of peaceful coexistence in Tal-A’fer District.
Local government officials, representatives of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority, head of the Sunni Muslim Endowment Bureau, Sufi Muslim clerics, representatives of Tal-A’fer District, and security forces leaders have attended the workshop.
Sheikh Kheleel El’elaiyawi, delegate of the Imam Hussain Shrine, said, “Social and security challenges in Tal-A’fer District, the society’s role in tackling such challenges, and the necessity of committing to the principles of peaceful coexistence were discussed in the workshop.”
He added that the cooperation pact was signed by the representatives of the city in terms of nurturing tolerance among people and prioritizing the principles of peaceful coexistence.
El’elaiyawi concluded, saying, “The articles of the cooperation pact will be set in 30 days and be presented to the representatives of the city for review.”
Attendees shed light on the significant historical role of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority in terms of halting sectarian violence and promoting peaceful coexistence.
