Muslims commemorate Imam Er-Ridha's martyrdom anniversary

 

In commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Er-Ridha (Peace Be Upon Him), which is on the 10th of Safar month A.H., groups of Muslims held mourning sessions at the shrine of Imam Er-Ridha’s brother sayyid El-Qasim (Peace Be Upon Them).

 

El-Qasim Shrine located in the city of Babylon is where Muslims – on the 10th of Safar A.H. – commemorate this observance by remembering Imam Er-Ridha’s honorable course of life and sacrifices, for some Muslims cannot go to Imam Er-Ridha Shrine in Iran, where so many Muslims flock into on this tragic day to express their heartfelt sorrow at what had happened to the Imam (Peace Be Upon Him).

 

Imam Er-Ridha, the eighth Imam, is son of Imam Musa El-Kadhim, son of Imam Ja’fer Es-Sadiq, son of Imam Mohammed El-Baqir, son of Imam Ali Es-Sejjad, son of Imam Hussein, son of Imam Ali (Peace Be Upon Them).

 

Imam Er-Ridha (Peace Be Upon Him) was born in El-Medeena El-Munawarah, and was killed by the Abbasside ruler El-Ma’mun, son of Haroon Er-Resheed, by feeding him poison.
