Walking in groups to the holy city of Kerbela

The number of pilgrims who walk to the shrine of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) is increasing every single year.

A group of women walking to Kerbela said to the website of Imam Hussein Shrine that they are 12 women and 3 young ladies that come on foot to Kerbela to commemorate the Arba’een anniversary of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him).

Sebreya Jasim, leader of group, said that they insist on going to Imam Hussein whether it is very hot, or it is very cold.

She added that although they walk for so many miles, but they feel happy, because many people on the way to Kerbela offer them food, water, medical assistance, and places to stay in.

She also said, “The purpose of walking to Kerbela is to condole with Lady Zaineb (Peace Be Upon Her) who had walked with the rest of the family of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Them) to Kerbela.”

Jelelah Thamer, teacher, said that they are a group pf teachers and students who have been going on foot to Kerbela every Arba’een season for 11 years. Her friend Zaineb said, “We instill Imam Hussein’s principles in ourselves by remembering his course of life, and by working hard to gain remarkable academic degrees.”

Another family walks for hundreds of miles every year. The father said that he walks with his family to Kerbela to commemorate the Arba’een anniversary of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) in order to instill love for Imam Hussein in his family members’ hearts, so they can follow Imam Hussein’s (Peace Be Upon Him) humanitarian principles.
