Expansion project of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine still underway

The project of expanding the interior space of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine – specifically the area surrounding the lattice-enclosed tomb of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) – is still underway.

Now, the pillars of the dome are made thinner in order to make more space for more pilgrims.

The chief engineer Kereem El-Embari has said that two pillars have been done, and still two more pillars to finish.

He also said, “The engineering staff is working on covering the courtyard of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine with marble, and half of the courtyard has been finished so far.”
