Christians visit Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and ancient church in Middle East

A Christian delegation, from Virgin Mary Church, Baghdad – Iraq, has visited Imam Hussein Holy Shrine on Wednesday 17 May 2017.

Martin Benny, priest of the church, said, “We are visiting Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in response to a group of young people, from Kerbela city and Najaf city, who visited our church and congratulated us on Easter Sunday.”

We have carried love and peace to Kerbela city, which has ancient Islamic and Christian religious sites, and we aim at spreading peace and love all over our country, added Benny.

What concerns us is that there should be a rapport between the components of the Iraqi society, and as Christians, we cherish all the Iraqi people and respect them, despite their different religions, added further Benny.

The delegation also visited the El-Abbas Holy Shrine, in addition to El-Qeseer Church; most antient church in the Middle East, in Ain Et-Temr District – Western Kerbela, where they practiced their rituals.
