The American analyst and strategic expert Michael Knights asserted that the fatwa by the Supreme Religious Authority inspired the army to restore its morale and fighting spirit, pointing out that the forces belonging to the holy shrines have proved their prominence in liberated areas.
Knights said, “The fatwa was on point and very effective, but it must be properly utilized by the Iraqi government so that the Popular Mobilization Forces are organized under its leadership.”
