On the second of Sha'ban month, coincides with the tenth of May 2016, the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine witnessed launching the activities of the 12th International Cultural Martyrdom Spring Conference. The conference was attended by a great number of religious scholars, litterateurs, academicians, and journalists, in addition to a massive crowd of people. This year's conference was held under the title of, “Imam Hussein is the lamp of freedom and the light of martyrdom”. It was begun with reciting holy verses from the Noble Quran, followed by a speech delivered by sheikh Abdul-Medi El-Kerbala'e. Another speech was delivered on behalf of the president of the Shia Endowment Bureau. The inauguration of the conference ended with presenting awards to the mothers, who lost their beloved ones in the war against the ISIS, from all over Iraq.
