Es-Seystani: Reformation War Must Be Patriotic, not for Personal Aims

August 28, 2015. Second part of the Friday's Sermon held at the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority, and the preacher of the Friday's Sermon in Kerbala, His Eminence, sheikh Abdul-Mehdi El-Kerbala’i said that the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority called on the Iraqis; those who are managing a fateful war of reforming the government as well as combating the terrorist ISIS, to wade into this war patriotically in order to obtain the long-desired objective and to not let anyone use this war as an opportunity to obtain their personal aims.

His eminence mentioned that the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence, Es-Seystani called on the young Iraqi immigrants, who are leaving for other countries due to the status quo of Iraq, to earnestly reconsider their decision of leaving their own country, to think of their people, and to be more patient by regarding their counterparts in the armed forces and the paramilitaries; those who are laying down their lives in combating the terrorist ISIS for the sake of their country, families, and holy shrines. Moreover, Iraqi youth leaving their country threatens of a major brain drain.

He said further that, His Eminence, Es-Seystani stated that:

Some of the requirements to succeed in the reformation war are: politicians concerned ought to highly understand and prioritize the Iraqi people’s demands of public services, combating corruption, and achieving social equity by taking essential steps that instill trustworthiness and certainty in the Iraqi people. Through such steps, politicians must express their willingness and patriotism to the Iraqis towards achieving all their demands. Many promises were made, and people have waited for a long period of time where nothing has been achieved. Now, there is no way for the politicians but to work faithfully.

El-Kerbala’i called on the state officials to greatly realize the size of the problem, seriously work for reformation by launching a comprehensive developmental plan in various fields, such as economics, agriculture, industry, and services.
