Iraqi Ministry of Health cooperates with the biggest specialized center affiliated with Shrine

The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Holy Shrine announced formal coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Health to conduct (bone marrow transplants) in the biggest specialized centre in Iraq and the middle east, which aims to reduce money costs for people in need.

The head of the commission, Dr Haider Hamzah Al-Aabedi, said in an interview, "Holy Shrine, under the guidance of the representative of the supreme religious authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, decided to pay great attention to the (bone marrow transplants) due to its high costs, so a new centre has been established in Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba Hospital, which is known as a specialized place and the amplest of a kind in the Arab countries, with a capacity of (60) beds."

Al-Aabedi explained, "The centre includes intensive care rooms and a washing room that was designed to be rooms for autologous and non-donor (bone marrow transplants) as well, noting that the Shrine gives great attention to this centre by providing it with full support, especially since the operating costs of bone marrow transplants are very exorbitant."

He concluded, "The Shrine took the initiative to attract specialized foreign cadres from different places, such as (Lebanon, Egypt, England and Italy), who are well-known scientific competencies in (bone marrow transplantation), noting that the place is provided with hotel rooms, for the patients' families."
