Thousands of mourners of Imam Hussein gathered in the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in order to participate in the rite of replacing the banner of the dome of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. Such an annual rite is performed in a stately ceremony. Many officials attended such as the head of the Shiite Endowment Office Sayed Salih El-Haideri, and the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. Sheikh Abdul Mehdi El-Kerbala'i, mentioned the virtue of crying over the tragedy of Imam Hussein (PBUH) according to authentic narrations told that Prophets, angels, Heaven, Earth, seas, and everything cried over the tragedy of Imam Hussein (PBUH) for forty days. His eminence also mentioned that mourners would cry over the death of Imam Hussein (PBUH) according to what the Prophet Mohammed (Allah's peace & blessings be upon him & his pure progeny) promised. He considered that crying is an act through which we can demonstrate faithfulness to Ahlulbait (PBUT). He clarified that the mourners should be demonstrating the true good deeds by words and actions. After the introduction finished, the red color banner was taken off and replaced with a black one which is representing sorrowfulness.
