El-Kerbala'i: Parliament seats increase unreasonable & pension must be called off

Nov 1, 2013. Second part of the Friday Sermon held in the Imam Hussein holy shrine, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority and the preacher of the Friday Sermon in Kerbala city, his eminence Sheikh Abdul Mehdi El-Kerbala'i, mentioned the decision made by the Iraqi federal court concerning calling off the parliaments pension, and considered it as a positive step but should be completed in order to fulfill justice.His eminence clarified that the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority and Iraqi people had already called for completing several decisions passed by parliament but still invalid such as the pension that millions of Iraqi retirees had been waiting for.He also called the government for legislating a law for a unified salary for officials due to some officials who receive an exorbitant salary. Consequently, that shall lead to make people feel that they are treated unfairly. He also mentioned that some political parties called the parliament for increasing the parliament seats on a plea of each 100 000 citizen must have a seat in parliament. He added that in case of increasing the parliament seats shall affect the budget of the country. He concluded by pointing out that Iraq needs honest and patriot parliaments, and not a huge number of them without serving Iraqi population. Translated by: Mohammed Jasim
