Aug 23, 2013. Second part of the Friday Sermon held in the Imam Hussein holy shrine, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority and the preacher of the Friday Sermon in Kerbala city, his eminence Sheikh Abdul Mehdi El-Kerbala'i, mentioned the decision recently passed by the Secretariat-General of the Iraqi prime ministry which sets an increase in the salary of the officials of the low and middle grades which is considered a remarkable step forward. He also mentioned that the Iraqi government should take the initiative to enhance the salary of the officials and the pension of the retired people in order to fulfill social justice among the society members, in addition to canceling the fiscal privileges of some of the people in power. He added that the law has still been suggested but not been legislated yet. The difference of the allowances based on the degrees for some ministries should also be canceled due to many negative consequences such as deteriorating the job performance and job unsettlement which will force the official to seek another position or moving abroad, seeking A better life with privileges. He shed light upon a suggestion mentioning that such a situation needs an instant alternative decision to make and new instructions should be laid out in order to a sort of social balance for the society. He also mentioned the liaison cases of the foreign affairs of the country: clarifying that some neighboring countries have negative interference in Iraq's status quo by distortive media. Therefore, it must be dealt with based on the political experience Iraqi officials had gained during the past years. Besides, all those in power should shoulder their responsibilities in terms of strengthening the interior power. His eminence also concluded by mentioning the recent statistics issued by some international organizations such as the UNESCO which manifested critical indices about the brain drain which is considered a big loss for the country. Then he ascribed such a phenomenon to the lack of security in some places in Iraq and lack of attention to those intellectuals. He said further that such issues must be dealt with in favor of the public interest by reconsidering those issues and finding the best solutions following the standards of qualifications in appointing officials, canceling patronage in order to attract as many intelligentsia as possible.
