Department of Architectural Projects of the Imam Hussein holy shrine began implementing Imam Hussein center for treating cancer

One of the greatest edifices in Iraq, constructing Imam Hussein center for treating cancer.About this project, we had an interview with architect Fawzi Muhsin EL-Shahir, the head of the investment department of the Imam Hussein holy shrine in which he mentioned that the Spanish company began executing the essential works after the essential designs had carefully been prepared. The project period is 24 months, and it would be constructed on a 30000 square meter piece of land. It’s located on the way to EL-Hur district. This medical center has the best technology to treat cancer chemically and by atomic radiation. The medical center includes large wards that hold 200-250 patients.An agreement has been contracted with a company specialized in supplying hospitals with echography systems to treat cancer tumors, in addition to specifying a room for these systems in order to prevent them from being exposed to the atomic radiation. An agreement has also been contracted with an international company to build a specific ward for atomic radiation and cancer tumor therapy. The ward will be supplied with the treatment substance for 80-100 patients per day. A new technology called (bit-scan & psychlotron) which produce radiation has been supplied to the center in order to test patients.Also, there are laboratories and facilities for marrow transplantation of children. The center has garage, Cookhouse, laundry. Buildings cost 4 million dollars, 22 million dollars for medical equipment, 4-5 million dollars for bunkers and fortified rooms.By: Mohammed Jasim
