Sponsored by the Religious Jurisprudential School in the city of Najaf, Ya Hussein Road, which is between the holy city of Kerbela and the city of Najaf, witnessed the largest congregational prayer performance in the world.
Approximately 1000 religious jurisprudential students and tens of thousands of Arba’een pilgrims – of different Islamic denominations and nationalities – participated in the prayer.
The piece of land occupied to perform the prayer was approximately 40 kilometers.
Sayyid Ahmed El-Husseini El-Ashkuri, imam of congregational prayer, said that the Religious Jurisprudential School seeks to fix such observances such as walking to the holy city of Kerbela and performing prayers at the exact time.
He added that walking and performing prayers purify and rectify one’s self, in addition to feeling equity.
