4000 pilgrim procession walk for 500 kilometers to make pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him)

 

Within the processions coming on food to the holy city of Kerbela to make a pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him), Awlad Amer procession is considered the largest among all Husseinian processions; it is consisted of 4000 pilgrims who walk for 500 kilometers to make a pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) every single year.

 

Nidham El-Musewi, head of procession, said, “For 9 years, this procession has been going on foot to the holy city of Kerbela to commemorate the Day of Arba’een of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him). The procession started with 2000 pilgrims, and now we are 4000 pilgrims.”

 

He added that about 1000 persons of different professions are within the procession; they help other pilgrims by providing them with food, water, medical assistance, etc.

 

He also said that there are activities performed while walking such as reciting poems about Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) and giving pilgrims instructions of the Ahlul-Bayet (Peace Be Upon Them).

 

El-Musewi expressed his gratitude for the media coverage provided by Imam Hussein Shrine.
