Imam Hussein Manuscript Restoration Center one of the best in the world

 

 

Officials from the United Nations described Imam Hussein Manuscript Restoration Center as one of the best international manuscript restoration centers.

 

The center is an academic reference for many Iraqi governmental institutions, researchers, and the interested in the ancient heritage.

 

Munaf Et-Timeemi, center director, said that the center meets the international standards, and its staff receives constant training abroad.

 

He added that the center was established inside Imam Hussein Shrine, and there were more than 5500 manuscripts in the safe of Imam Hussein Shrine.

 

He said further that the center was equipped with the best technological devices, chemical substances, and laboratories according to the International Organization for Standardization.

 

The center provides the researchers with copies of the manuscripts for authentication purposes, in addition to holding courses and workshops for the interested and college students as well as consultancy.

 

Et-Timeemi mentioned that the center signed partnership agreements with Iraqi governmental and universities in terms researching and holding workshops. He also mentioned that the center has achieved breakthroughs by discovering 6 types of pests that damage manuscripts, registered under the name of the center.

 

The center will soon sign a partnership agreement with the University of Berlin – Germany.
