Agricultural city being established to satisfy market's demand

The Department of Agricultural Development of the Imam Hussain Shrine has begun establishing an agricultural city named “Sayyid EshShuheda’” in Ain EtTemr District, located to the west of the city of Karbala.

Qahtan Ewaz, department director, said, “The land is being prepared now by drilling wells and installing a sprinkling irrigation system.”

He added, “Fourteen wells have completely been drilled, and 900 acres have been sowed with wheat so far.”

Ewaz said further that the crop will be sold to the Iraqi Ministry of Trade, noting that 1500 acres will be cultivated with wheat.
